OMG!  You Did It!!  You are Graduating!!

This is such an Exciting Year for you! It's your senior year, you've made it at last. The high school is yours to rule and this year everything will be perfect. Everything, including your senior pictures. Yes, gone are the days of those tiny, generic yearbook pictures. Those are for the underclassmen. You are a senior now and only the best will do.  After 11 long years you are finally a senior and it's time for those once-in-a-lifetime senior portraits. Auman Photo Studios would love to capture your memories of your Senior Year

What Should I Wear?

Wear what makes you feel good and feel most like yourself. The attention should be on YOU and not what you're wearing so avoid bold stripes and plaids if possible. We usually tell people to avoid busy patterns, since styles do change often, large wording or popular name brand logos should be avoided but school names and logos are fine to wear.  Bright white is good for your "High Key" and "Low Key" photos but for "On Location creamy white is better.  Be careful with bold strong reds.   Bring different outfits with matching jewelry. And don't forget the cute shoes! Bring some long sleeved tops too if you have them. If you have a long formal dress, bring it.  Cowboy boots are really popular right now if that's your style. If you have any hats, bring 'em.
Wear clothing that complements your body style. You've probably heard all you life that dark colors are slimming. This is particularly true in photographs so if your goal is to appear a little thinner, try to avoid light colors.
Sleeveless tops can make your arms appear fuller. If your not comfortable with your arms its better to wear sleeves.  It is a must that clothes be ironed and on hangers. Wrinkles will show in photos! I've had seniors show up with all their clothes stuffed in a bag.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't do this.
We don't want to use up your session time ironing clothes!
You may change as many times as you like as long as time permits. Keep in mind though, most outdoor locations don't have a place to change so you might have to change in your car.
Sometimes it’s fun to break all the rules and wear that wild shirt or your most favorite white sweater and that’s ok. We’ll choose different backgrounds or locations for those clothes

Where Should I Go?

Most of our seniors like to do an "On Location" session. We pick a location and then walk from place to place taking portraits as we go. We find lots of cool spots to take pictures that way! Some of the favorite locations are the Cocoa Beach Pier, downtown Cocoa Village, Lori Wilson Park, the beach, Grandpa’s farm, Old Downtown Melbourne, even your own backyard. It’s really up to you. If you want we can do a multi location session and utilize Our Studio and Cocoa Village/Riverfront Park.

Tips for great Senior Portraits:

  1. Sleep! Make sure you get at least 2 nights of good sleep before your photo session so that you will look fresh and won't have bags under your eyes. Beauty sleep is real....
  2. Be on time for your session! It is a good idea to arrive 10-15 minutes early especially if you will need to touch-up your hair and makeup. Sessions take from 2-3 hours and are usually done in the evening for location shooting. The light changes quickly at this time of day so it is imperative we start at the scheduled time.  You can also choose a studio session or a mixture of both studio and location. Its totally up to you.
  3. Rain- Whether we like it or not we can't control the weather. If it is raining at the time of your outdoor photo session we will have no choice but to reschedule. Please call the studio to see if your session is still on.
  4. Hair Care. Guys, let a new hair cut grow out for at least a week before your pictures, allowing time for any white tan lines to disappear. Also, take the time to get a close shave. Girls, if you plan on coloring your hair or getting a new style, also allow at least a week to get used to the style.
  5. Clothes. Have your clothes and accessories ready the night before your shoot. Choose clothes that reflect your style and the changing seasons (summer - fall). Make sure they are clean and free of wrinkles.  For each outfit, put your accessories in a zip lock bag and attach it to the hanger.
  6. Make-up. Girls bring your make-up, hair spray and curling iron to do touch ups. Make sure that your face make-up is blended into your neck so that when you look in the mirror your neck is not too white. Even if you're not accustomed to wearing makeup on a daily basis, it's still a good idea to wear a little for your session, especially mascara and some kind of lipstick or gloss. Make sure you apply mascara evenly without clumping. Makeup with sparkles and glitter are a big NO NO glitter makes you have little white specks all over you from the lights, these touch-ups can get very expensive. Be sure to bring translucent powder and a brush for touch-ups. Also check to see if you have tan lines that will show with the different outfits you are going to wear.
These seemingly minor details are very important for closeup shots.  Bring chapstick or lip gloss to keep your lips moist.
  7. Tanning- Here's another biggy.  Avoid getting sunburn, red skin doesn't photograph well. In fact, it could cause us to have to reschedule your session if you have a bad sunburn. Tan lines don't look good in photographs either. Tanning is fine just don't over do it, you don't want to look artificial.
  8. Glasses. If you wear glasses, bring an extra pair of frames without lenses. Many Optometrists will allow you to borrow a pair of frames for your Senior pictures.
  9. Blemishes;  Don't worry... your final prints will look great! Girls, don't use too much make-up trying to hide blemishes. It will be easier for the Photographer to retouch your prints if you keep a more natural look.
  10. Bring a friend. It can be really fun to have your pictures taken at the same time as your friend. We have Discount "Buddy" packages if you book with a friend! Pets are welcome too! Please bring a pet carrier or someone to watch them during your session.
  11. Finishing touches. Guys, make sure your fingernails are clean and nicely trimmed. Girls, pamper yourself with a manicure and pedicure the day before.
  12. Smile. We will take your portrait with and without you smiling. If you wear braces and don't like them, we can remove them for a nominal fee in your final prints. If you don't like your smile, get in front of a mirror and practice it. Once you like a smile, close your eyes and smile, then open your eyes to see if it looks the way you want. Get used to how it feels to smile the way you think you look best. Don't be afraid to whiten your teeth if you think you need to.

Most of all RELAX and HAVE FUN!!!
